Hi guys! I was planning to meet my friend Chelsea for a strength training class this morning, but I looked at the weather forecast yesterday afternoon and it was supposed to be stunning out today. After weeks of rain and crazy humid/swampy hot weather, a crisp and cool sunny morning was not to be missed – run date instead it was!
It was SO nice out – really glad we made it out for a jaunt to enjoy it! Fun to mix it up, too, since Chelsea and I usually do classes together vs. runs. It had been a long time since we’d had a run date!
We decided to incorporate some strength training stuff along the way, just to mix it up. I love doing little strength training stops during runs – it’s a great way to make the run more interesting, to build strength, AND to give yourself a little breather from the running, too. Try it! We stopped twice for strength workouts and did lunges, push ups, and dips. Kept it simple!
Thanks for the company and the motivation out there, Chelsea! It feels good to be getting my running mojo back. Running still feels hard, but it’s nice to be able to comfortably run far enough for run dates again. 🙂
When I got back I refueled with some leftover crepes stuffed with plain whole milk Greek yogurt, almond butter, and berries. Plus an unpictured latte. 🙂 Messy and delicious!
In related news – tomorrow is Global Running Day! I love their messaging – it’s all about being active in a way that is fun (vs. an obligation) and meets you where you are. Whether you are running around the block or running for miles and miles, I hope you will join me in celebrating tomorrow! Since tomorrow is my mommy day with Riese, I am planning to take her with me for a short jog – our pediatrician said it would be fine to jog with her in the carseat attached to the stroller. (She also said we can try putting her in the actual stroller now vs. in the carseat attached to the stroller, but I’ll start with walks to make sure she’s stable enough in there.)Â Anyway – no distance goals for tomorrow, I just want to get out there with her and enjoy. I hope that as she grows up I can show her that being active and having outdoorsy adventures is fun! (Cute running-themed onesie was a gift from my friends at Brooks!)
Have a nice day, guys!
What are your plans for Global Running Day tomorrow?Â
