Morning, friends!
I had the best post-work run last night with my friend Sokphal.
We’ve been trying to meet up for weeks (er… a month?) now and finally figured out a day and time that worked for both of us. It was great to see her again and well worth the wait! We began our run just as the sun was starting to say farewell for the day. The weather was unseasonably warm – in the low 50’s – and it felt great to be out and about after working on a computer all day.
We started by running through Rosslyn, VA, with some pretty views of the city at dusk…
Ran over Memorial Bridge to say hello to Mr. Lincoln – how cool does the sky look in this picture?
And of course said hello to the Washington Monument, too…
We ran down along the reflecting pool, then looped back past Lincoln again, back over Memorial bridge, and down along the Mt. Vernon trail. Check out our stunning views:
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again – I’m so lucky to be able to run somewhere so beautiful.
I had plans to do a 4 or 5 miler, but Sokphal was planning to run farther, and I was having such a good time chatting and enjoying the weather and scenery that I decided to bust out a longer run with her because I didn’t want the fun to end!
We ended on a steep uphill and finished strong – 6.5 miles, done. Pretty awesome for a weeknight!
Splits:
Total time: 57:39. Total distance: 6.51 miles. Average pace: 8:51 min/miles. Thanks for the great run, Sokphal! Can’t wait for next time.
The rest of this week has been working like a madwoman to get my new private practice business stuff all organized and working on some freelance writing projects, too! Yesterday I spent most of the day teaching myself all about the joys of small business accounting. Oy!
I did get in a delicious lunch, though. 🙂
Did you know that canned tuna is really good when mixed with hummus and Dijon mustard? It is, I promise.
I threw the tuna mixture on top of a big salad of mixed greens, canned beets, green pepper, tomato, feta cheese, and some balsamic vinaigrette and salt/pepper. Delicious!
Oh, tuna salad. You look like barf but you taste so yummy.
On the side, I had some crackers and grapes. Yum!
Time to get back to work – lots to do! I am determined to get all my finances/accounting stuff under control and all organized by the end of today.
Have a great Thursday, everyone!
